    What exactly is collagen hydrolysate?

Collagen powder is all the rage these days. And rightly so: With a 30% protein content, collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body and the most important structural component of bones, cartilage, teeth, tendons, ligaments, and skin. Connective tissue consists of collagen proteins, which is why blood vessels are also essentially made of collagen.

Collagen is also the most special protein in the body. Every third amino acid in the long amino acid chain is glycine. This is the smallest amino acid. It enables the collagen chain to coil. Another common motif in the amino acid sequence of collagen is glycine-proline-hydroxyproline. This sequence ensures the typical tensile strength and enormous resilience of collagen.

According to recent biochemical calculations, the amount we typically ingest with food and synthesize ourselves is not sufficient to fully meet the body's needs, especially with regard to collagen synthesis.

The natural conclusion from our analysis is that the quality of life can be improved by taking glycine as a dietary supplement according to the calculated needs (about 10 g daily) to ensure adequate synthesis and renewal of collagen.

There are 28 different types of collagen known in the body. Type I and type II collagen are the most important, as they are found in bones, teeth, fascia, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels, and cartilage, for example. At the same time, these are the types of collagen that typically dominate collagen products. This is also the case in our product.

    Why collagen hydrolysate?

During hydrolysis, which gives collagen hydrolysate its name, the long and complex proteins are pre-digested and broken down into shorter protein chains, known as peptides . Collagen peptides have experienced a real hype in recent years, as studies have repeatedly shown that they help the body boost its own collagen production.

Collagen peptides are transported via specific peptide transporters into the bloodstream and into the tissues, where they stimulate the activity of collagen-forming cells, such as chondrocytes (cartilage), osteoblasts (bone), or fibroblasts (skin). A 2019 review (scientific summary), for example, concludes that

Preliminary results show promise for the short- and long-term use of oral collagen supplements for wound healing and skin aging. Oral collagen supplements, such as our collagen hydrolysate powder, also increase skin elasticity, moisture content, and collagen density.

It does not seem to matter which source the collagen comes from, because all collagen proteins contain a lot of glycine, proline and hydroxyproline as peptides, which have corresponding bioactivity.

Buy collagen hydrolyzate powder from grass-fed cattle

Which collagen powder should a customer buy? We have decided to add important micronutrients in optimal amounts and bioavailability to our collagen powder to effectively support the body's own collagen production. This requires enzymes that require vitamin C (from acerola cherries), manganese, zinc , and copper to function. We also add silica to the product as a source of silicon.

To set new quality standards, we source our collagen powder from Argentinian pasture-fed cattle, under LIAF certification:

    • In Argentina, cattle are allowed to graze outdoors all year round(!) – these animals are therefore truly grass-fed .
    • Industrial food is not permitted and silage and similar alternatives are only fed in exceptional cases.
    • Animal products may not be fed.
    • Hormone administration is prohibited.
    • Medicines may only be prescribed or administered by a veterinarian.

This ensures species-appropriate animal husbandry and allows the product to meet very high quality standards. Incidentally, the raw material for our collagen hydrolysate powder is naturally Halal. The collagen powder in the iced tea flavor is sweetened only with steviol glycosides.

Ingredients:95.7% collagen hydrolysate (SOLUGEL™ from Argentinian pasture-fed cattle), acerola extract, acidifier: malic acid, flavoring, sweetener: steviol glycosides from stevia, zinc bisglycinate, silica, manganese gluconate, copper gluconate.

    SUBSCRIPTION:

Everything you need to know about the product

Below we answer frequently asked questions

    Where does collagen come from?

The collagen comes from Argentinian pasture-fed cattle that are allowed to graze year-round. Industrial feed, antibiotics, and hormones are not used.

Why is the bag only half full?

Unfortunately, a smaller bag is not possible due to production constraints. Collagen is a powder (actually granules) with a comparatively small volume – similar to sand. We receive the raw material in 20 kg bags, which are significantly looser and more voluminous. During filling, the bag is almost full. Only during and immediately after filling does the fluffy consistency collapse into sandy granules – thus, the previously full bag is suddenly only half full.

How long does a pack of collagen hydrolysate last?

The 750-gram pack contains approximately 50 servings – at one serving per day, that's equivalent to 50 days. The 350-gram pack contains approximately 23 servings – at one serving per day, that's equivalent to 23 days.

How does it support my skin & joints?

In addition to amino acids, the collagen also contains vitamin C, zinc, manganese and copper to optimally support collagen formation!

Vitamin C stimulates natural collagen production and ensures elastic skin, tendons and ligaments

Zinc contributes to the maintenance of healthy skin, normal hair and strong nails

Copper supports collagen in maintaining healthy connective tissue

I'm not sure if the prices are justified. 30 euros for 750g of collagen is pretty crazy, I mean, it's a byproduct...

The standing of collagen has undergone a 180° turn in the last 10 years. The powder used to be frowned upon by the bodybuilding scene because collagen protein, due to its special amino acid composition, has no direct impact on muscle protein synthesis (little leucine, etc.). And back then, the raw material was also incredibly cheap. Because nobody wanted it, and it wasessentiallyjust a by-product.

Back then, dubious protein companies diluted their expensive milk protein with cheap collagen powder to increase their margins.

Things are completely different today. Nowadays, almost everyone knows how valuable collagen can be and that we all actually need more collagen. According to researchers, for example, we are missing 5-10 g of glycine every day, which is actually only found in significant quantities in collagen.

Due to the collagen hype, raw material prices have risen significantly in recent years.

In addition, we are probably using the world's best brand-name raw material. Collagen normally comes from factory farming. Ours is certified from cattle that only eat grass, raised in small groups, without antibiotics, etc. It's practically the best of the best.

Nobody stretches milk protein with collagen anymore. Our collagen is actually so expensive these days that we have to stretch it with other protein powders ;-)

Collagen hydrolysate shouldn't be dismissed as a by-product either. Of course, the raw material is primarily made from a layer of cow hide, which certainly doesn't end up on your plate.is already a by-product of the meat industry (which is good, as collagen consumption means that no additional cattle have to be bred and slaughtered) - but these by-products are processed into collagen hydrolysate in such a complex way that a completely new product is created.

Why does the collagen powder also contain vitamin C, zinc, manganese and copper?

    • In addition to amino acids, our collagen powder also contains vitamin C, zinc, manganese and copper to optimally support collagen formation!
    • Vitamin C stimulates natural collagen production and ensures elastic skin, tendons and ligaments
    • Zinc contributes to the maintenance of healthy skin, normal hair and strong nails
    • Copper supports collagen in maintaining healthy connective tissue

    Is the collagen vegan?

    Is the product lactose-free?

    Yes.

What is the best way to take collagen?

You can take our collagen however you like best. The collagen dissolves in any liquid without clumping. Therefore, it's not just suitable for use in a shake in water: You can also mix the neutral powder into juices, soups, or coffee.Tip: You can also add the collagen hydrolysate to baking, cereal bowls, or sauces. Feel free to give it a try!

Can I also stir the powder into coffee and other drinks?

Yes, as long as you like it, there are no limits to its use! However, keep in mind that high heat can damage sensitive substances like vitamin C. Collagen, however, is completely unaffected by heat!

When should I take the collagen hydrolysate?

You can take the collagen at any time of day, whenever it suits you best.

How much collagen should I take per day?

We recommend starting with 15g (equivalent to one serving) of collagen per day.

    Who is collagen suitable for?

For anyone who wants to support their body with collagen but can't get enough of it through their diet. It's ideal as a small beauty shake for in-between meals or for athletes to increase protein intake and strengthen muscles and ligaments.

    Is collagen suitable for athletes?

Yes! Our collagen contains approximately 13 g of protein per serving (15 g). This not only increases your protein intake, but also supports your muscles, joints, tendons, and ligaments. The more nutrients you provide, the better your workout (and the lower the risk of injury).

    Excellent 4.8 / 5

    • Eduone is the perfect blend with everything you need. I really like that the recipe is constantly being improved. The newsletter is also very interesting, explaining everything that goes into my eduone. The lemon flavor is my favorite so far, as it tastes the most natural. Only the solubility is only a 9 out of 10, as a few lumps form. All in all, a top-notch product that I would recommend. :)

    • The powder tastes great. And I've tried a lot of different greens powders out there. The nutritional values are fine for me. I supplement with anything that's not included but is important to me (like silicon, etc.).
